Reports of their demise have been greatly exaggerated – the North has risen again. Close to five years since their last record, Leeds denizens AUTOBAHN re-enter the fray with the release of their third record, Ecstasy of Ruin, on 28th April via Tough Love. Half a decade is both a long time and no time at all: forever changes while some things remain eternal… So it goes that AUTOBAHN may have re-emerged with many of the hallmarks of their characteristic blend of industrial post-punk intact, but under the bonnet they’re a much leaner, more focused machine. If 2017’s The Moral Crossing was a record defined by its dramatic rhythm section, then it’s not insignificant that the 2023 incarnation of AUTOBAHN arrives shaved to a four piece and sans their previous drummer. The change necessitates an evolution. Live drums have given way to drum-machines and sample-based percussion, and with it see the band reconfigure their typically blackened aesthetic into a hardened take on Electronic Body Music. As with their previous record, it’s an entirely self-produced collection, recorded between two self-built studios on a range of analogue equipment, the ghosts of their industrial forefathers haunting the circuits. Dyslexic Smith attributes his words to the diabolical truths of Broken Britain. Born in the big city
of London with a family history of Irish and Filipino Malay roots, Smith’s youth was spent much
across the country than a constant in one place. Smith’s father plays a significant role in the
lyricism of Polite Bureaux as his poetry is used as power, to pride and break stigma through the
performance of music.
+ everyday saints: Dingepop 4-piece from Brighton, reminiscent of modern alternative, indie, and 80s synth post punk. Imagine pop music, but it’s 3084 and the sun has exploded leaving everyone a pale, sickly and theatrical goth. Gigging in various incarnations since late 2022, supporting the likes of Starbenders, Tizane, and Margaritas Podridas.

The venue is only accessible via a flight of stairs however they can offer access via a back door at street level to the venue if mobility is an issue or you use a wheelchair. There are 3 large steps via this route so assistance to gain access and to exit the venue would be required. We can arrange this if you contact us in advance of a show. Please bear in mind that they can only allow access in between bands due to sound issues. Two disabled toilets upstairs, both gender neutral. If you require a carer at the venue, please contact us at info@lovethyneighbourmusic.co.uk for guestlist, with evidence such as a blue badge or access card. If strobe lighting is an issue or if standing for long periods of time is an issue, please contact us in advance. They can provide chairs in the venue although if the event is very busy this will impede visibility. If you wish to make use of a chair to view a gig, we advise arriving early to secure a position. They are happy to accommodate assistance dogs.
