“Noise rock shot-through with moments of incredible beauty…” – Clash Mag
Bodywash formed in 2014 as a vehicle for the sonic bond between Chris Steward and Rosie Long Decter. The Montreal duo conjure a dreamscape with airy vocals, intricate guitars and pulsating synths over a heavy rhythmic foundation. In 2019, they released their debut LP, Comforter, which received praise from Bandcamp Daily, NPR Music, Clash Mag and elsewhere.
This spring, they released their anticipated follow-up, I Held the Shape While I Could via Light Organ Records, which finds the band experimenting with glitching drones and cascading vocals while exploring themes of dislocation and decay. The band hit the road in the support of the record for a series of headlining dates across North America as well as festival spots at SXSW, Treefort Fest, Sled Island and more. https://bodywashmtl.bandcamp.com
+ Bobbysmiles: Taking influence from artists such as King Krule, Father John Misty & Connan Mockasin to craft their sonic palette, Bobbysmiles takes the distinct, bubbly sound of bedroom-pop and merges it with the thoughtful arrangement and nuance of modern folk artists.
+ Nina Kohout: Nina is a sonic storyteller who pushes the boundaries of musical obedience, forming a constant conversation between an invasive horror and a fragile purity. In her music, she connects the eerie atmosphere of ancient Slovak folklore, classical music elements, and dark electronica. In 2020, Slovakia-born, UK-based artist Nina Kohout won the Radio_Head award for the Newcomer of the Year (curated by the Slovak national radio), which she received for her debut single Blue Sunray. Her critically acclaimed debut EP Pandemonium (incl. the song Moonlight featured as the Song of the Day by KEXP Radio) got Nina’s name mentioned in BBC Radio 6 Music and music magazines such as Under the Radar, Louder than War, and Electronic Sound magazine. Her past shows include playing at the iconic Kino Šiška in Ljubljana, the Liveurope Festival in Prague, the Ahoi! Pop Festival in Linz, as well as the biggest European showcase festival Eurosonic in the Netherlands.
