Getdown Services Brighton

Getdown Services live in Brighton at The Hope & Ruin on 22nd November!
Sold out! If you missed out, join the waiting list on DICE or SeeTickets.

Getdown Services are a two piece from Bristol that provide a sweat soaked, tub thumping, groove infused experience. Squint your eyes and it’s a stag do on a karaoke machine but open your mind and you’ll find it’s at least 500% more enjoyable than that.

Having been described as Sleaford Mods meets LCD Soundsystem, word has spread rapidly of their anarchic and high energy rapport with the audience, leading to sell out headline performances and a loyal following in their home city of Bristol. Their fast-rising popularity is the natural result of two close friends collaborating and creating something to be enjoyed, not just by themselves, but by as many people as possible in one shared experience. https://getdownservices.bandcamp.com/

+ Kitchen Lover: The decade was the 1950s; The Chats & Dead Kennedys were in a thriving monogamous relationship and decided it was the right time to birth a child. Said child would then grow up to start the 50’s punk revolution, carving their sound out of raw garage riffs and poppy hooks. Conceived in the kitchen, they thought it was only right to name their child, Kitchen Lover.

+ My First Time:

Bristol based quartet My First Time have their foot pressed firmly on the accelerator. With driving guitar hooks, and waspish vocal lines that capture observations of modern society and all its idiosyncrasies, they package these ingredients into three minute post-pop nuggets.

Their debut single “Wind Up Merchant”, and the follow-up ‘Workwear’ released via Submarine Cat Records, both found favour with the likes of Steve Lamacq, John Kennedy, and Clash Magazine. With local shows, including Rough Trade Bristol, selling out in-advance – one die-hard fan even had the band’s logo tattooed on their leg! The connection with fans is born out of a shared energy for having fun at shows and relatable lyrical tales of youth, cheap thrills, and hoping for change. The band’s sound is inspired by artists like The Streets, Marina And The Diamonds, and Blur. My First Time are now signed to Parlophone Records and will release new music this Autumn. https://www.instagram.com/my1sttime

The venue is only accessible via a flight of stairs however they can offer access via a back door at street level to the venue if mobility is an issue or you use a wheelchair. There are 3 large steps via this route so assistance to gain access and to exit the venue would be required. We can arrange this if you contact us in advance of a show. Please bear in mind that they can only allow access in between bands due to sound issues. Two disabled toilets upstairs, both gender neutral. If you require a carer at the venue, please contact us at info@lovethyneighbourmusic.co.uk for guestlist, with evidence such as a blue badge or access card. If strobe lighting is an issue or if standing for long periods of time is an issue, please contact us in advance. They can provide chairs in the venue although if the event is very busy this will impede visibility. If you wish to make use of a chair to view a gig, we advise arriving early to secure a position. They are happy to accommodate assistance dogs.
