Simon Joyner is an American singer-songwriter who has influenced the music of Bright Eyes, Kevin Morby and Gillian Welch. He plays this show as a trio with Michael Krassner and Fred Lonberg-Holm.

Simon Joyner’s friendship with Michael Krassner and Fred Lonberg-Holm goes back to the late ’90’s and the records Joyner recorded in Chicago with Krassner at the helm and Lonberg-Holm contributing string and horn arrangements. The albums they made, “Yesterday, Tomorrow & In Between”, “The Lousy Dance” and “Hotel Lives” featured a wrecking crew of Chicago musicians including Krassner, Lonberg-Holm, Glenn Kotche, Scott Tuma, Ken Vandermark, Guillermo Gregorio, Jeb Bishop, Jessica Billey, Jim Becker, Matt Schneider, Via Nuon, among others.

While Joyner, Krassner, and Lonberg-Holm have collaborated throughout the years on recordings they rarely have the opportunity to tour together due to competing schedules and all three living in different regions of the United States. Krassner has collaborated with and recorded music for Califone, Songs: Ohia, Will Oldham, Dirty Three, most of Joyner’s albums, and many others including his own Boxhead Ensemble project. Cellist Fred Lonberg-Holm is a creative musician who regularly
tours with Joe McPhee and Dave Rempis  among countless others in various groups including the Survival Unit III and Ballister.
