With a sound that reverberates between psych-noise and surf pop, The Leaning’s music pays homage to the modern romantic songwriters and the eerie dawn of synth music. Led by Sam Jordan, an ex-ballet dancer, and Ez Stone, a tattoo artist, the pair met while digging a hole during a long summer of manual labour. Sam, with a focus on lyrics and songs, and Ez, an emotive guitarist and arranger, set out recording music at Sam’s flat perched on the edge of Portslade Harbour. Samuel Organ is one of the UK’s most exciting multi-disciplinary creatives. He has worked alongside artists such as Caroline Polachek, Shygirl, Sega Bodega, Danny L Harle, BABii, Iglooghost, Kai Whiston ++ and is a key member of experimental jazz group The Physics House Band, who have built a worldwide cult following with their chaotic improvisations and live shows. Frances Mistry: Brighton-based Frances Mistry is a refreshingly alternative-Indie artist, whose songs’ autobiographical stories are carried along by haunting melodies, strident guitar riffs and topped by her own clear-as-a-bell vocals. Lauded by BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders as a “proper, authentic artist” and long-listed in Glastonbury’s 2022 prestigious Emerging Talent competition, she cites influences such as beabadoobee, Clairo and Jay Som, but sometimes the songwriter’s melodies nod to the work of Dubstar, The Sundays or The Cardigans. https://linktr.ee/francesmistry
