Battlesnake + DZ Deathrays Brighton

Battlesnake + DZ Deathrays live in Brighton at CHALK on 8th July! Get tickets above, or from SeeTickets.

Battlesnake, are the rising Titans of Australian metal and hardrock. They have rapidly ascended from the depths of the underground, captivating audiences worldwide with a sound that fuses elements of Queen, King Gizzard, and Judas Priest. Renowned for their high-octane live performances, epic theatrical songwriting, and relentless energy, they have cemented their place as one of the most exciting acts in contemporary metal.
Formed in 2019, Battlesnake quickly captured attention with their debut EP, Myths and Legends from Gorbag’s Domain(2020), followed by their self-titled full-length album in 2023. With each release, their sound has evolved into a mighty force, blending heavy riffs, soaring vocals, and intricate melodies, while keeping the raw, unrelenting energy that defines their live shows.

In 2024, Battlesnake’s momentum exploded internationally, particularly across the UK and EU, where their unique sound resonated with fans and critics alike. Their album The Rise and Demise of the Motorsteeple (2024) marked a significant milestone in their career, blending high-octane metal with intricate storytelling. The album’s success propelled Battlesnake into the global spotlight, securing their place as one of the most anticipated bands in the scene.
The band’s explosive rise in Europe and the UK was complemented by their collaboration with renowned acts like KISS(on their “End of the World Tour”), The Smashing Pumpkins, and Jane’s Addiction (on the “World Is a Vampire Tour”). The Australian outfit’s electrifying live performances were met with widespread acclaim, leading to sold-out shows and a rapidly growing fan base in these territories. https://battlesnakeband.bandcamp.com/album/the-rise-and-demise-of-the-motorsteeple-deluxe-edition

DZ Deathrays: Australian-based guitar-driven music has for the better part of recent memory been quantified globally by jubilant, sun-dappled rhythms with motifs of desire and infatuation – DZ Deathrays make no such promise, nor will they ever. With over a decade long tenure to their name, the group have long cemented their space in contemporary Australian music as a necessity for
doing just the opposite, marked by their ability to consistently churn out innovative call to arms riffage as visceral as they are frenetic.

Their mainstay status is marked by an ongoing tally of appearances across every career
building pillar: arena tours supporting Foo Fighters and Biffy Clyro to name a few, multiple
international appearances at SXSW, Reading and Leeds amongst headline tours, several
Splendour In The Grass, Laneway and Falls Festivals, and ARIA Awards is testament to
that fact. From every house party that took them to 1000+ capacity venues and beyond, Shane
Parsons, Simon Ridley, and more recently joined by Lachlan Ewbank, have never let go of
their core objective in doing it because they can. It’s this ethos, far from the perspective of egoism or fame-driven motivation, but rather their core value to ‘do’ ‘make’, ‘challenge’ and ‘enjoy’ that has stuck with DZ Deathrays at every step. A creative integrity and ambition that maintains their place at the forefront of the national punk frontier with a hungry, enduring and rampant fanbase all these years later. This prevails on their sixth studio album R.I.F.F., arguably their most experimental, enhanced and immediately resonant record yet. Across, DZ spark that same playful joy and anarchy of the rock that doting parents vouch to instill in their children’s musical vernacular: ACDC, INXS, Silverchair, Tame Impala and more.  https://dzdeathrays.bandcamp.com/track/first-night-fever

+ Mannequin Death Squad is an instrument swapping, alt rock/punk band from Melbourne, Australia. The fiercely independent duo has left a trail of passionate fans in their wake. Mixing catchy pop melodies with ferocious punk rock riffs, and an infectiously energetic live show.

Touring worldwide completely DIY, the pair have shared the stage with many including: Suicidal Tendencies, Soulfly, Soft Play, DZ Deathrays, NENA, Frenzal Rhomb, British India and WAAX to name a few.

The pair has recently returned from a 17 date ‘DIY or DIE’ Europe tour, filling venues across Europe and the UK concluding with a supporting slot with Soulfly in the south of France. The tour was booked, managed and funded completely by themselves. Prior to this, the band sold out their hometown show at the 250 capacity Bergy Bandroom in Melbourne. Upon return, the duo showcased at SXSW Sydney for the second year in a row.
