Alternative Folk mainstay Junior Brother boldly stakes out new Folk-inflected ground with a fresh and daring single, “The Men Who Eat Ring Forts’. The brand new release follows on from June’s epic “Junior Brother’s Favourite” EP, and 2022’s highly acclaimed Double LP The Great Irish Famine, with its ‘Wry songs of anxiety and frustration’ (The Guardian) described by MOJO Magazine as being ‘Truly unforgettable’. Now, this new single boldly signposts an exciting new chapter for Junior Brother’s stunningly distinctive sound.

Taught yet expansive, the new single sets the tone for Junior Brother’s third album, currently being created with Producer extraordinaire John “Spud” Murphy (black midi, Lankum), set for release next year.

“The song is possessed with the fervour of the dispossessed,” explains Junior Brother, a.k.a. County Kerry’s Ronan Kealy. “‘The Men Who Eat Ring Forts’ is a twitch of frustration, spat into modernity’s hollow wheel before it clears the way. Sacred things unseen to the suits are still there for them willing to look

+ Iona Zajac is a formidable presence, particularly when it comes to her live performance. Her music seamlessly blends folk, indie and alternative genres with an authentic grit that has captivated audiences across Europe. There is an uncompromising ferocity that courses through her songs; fucked up love affairs, consent (or lack thereof), weird dreams and wild sex, delivered with a tender, powerful voice and impenetrable stare.

Zajac has built a reputation for the intense beauty of her solo work but also performs with the powerful backing of her full band which includes Eleanor Mason (Voka Gentle, Paolo Nutini, Billie Marten) & Joe Taylor (Anna B Savage, Penelope Isles), whom both feature on her recently recorded and highly anticipated debut album. You can expect nods to solo bedroom EP, ‘Find Her in the Grass’, but darker themes are now accompanied by pulsating drone synths and drum builds, at times ascending into enraged cries and chaos.

2022/23 was spent mainly on the road, touring with the likes of LANKUM, Billy Nomates, Arab Strap, Anna B Savage, The Cinematic Orchestra, Hamish Hawk and Idlewild.
